Our Personal Medicine: The Shaman's Heart with Amanda Foulger

Prerequisite: The FSS Basic Workshop or its equivalent and experience in shamanic practice.

The heart is central to the shamanic path and to all shamanic work. Using primarily classic shamanic methods as well as other experiential practices, we will explore some important aspects of the heart, drawing on scientific and medical information as well as the inspiration of poetry and lore from various cultures, myths and spiritual traditions, based on work Amanda began in 1999. Our purpose is for healing, growth, empowerment and learning, to benefit ourselves, one another and all life.

Amanda Foulger is a full-time shamanic practitioner based in Topanga, CA. She has trained with The Foundation for Shamanic Studies since 1988 and has a broad background in spiritual study and practice, including work with indigenous and American healers, for over 30 years. She also trained with The School for Lost Borders and has completed Ralph Metzner's Alchemical Divination training.

As a FSS Faculty Member, Amanda teaches their workshops in Southern California as well as assisting at the Two-Week and Three-Year Programs in Advanced Shamanism and Shamanic Healing.

Amanda teaches her own shamanically-based workshops on a variety of themes under the general title of Our Personal Medicine, and has presented workshops or talks on contemporary shamanic practice for institutions such as the Yo San University of Oriental Medicine, the San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council, the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles, as well as participating in special conferences, ceremonies and programs at U.C.L.A., the Esalen Institute Work Scholars Program, Churches of Religious Science and Unitarian congregations.
